Harrington's
Wakefield Ma.

Sat Aug 22 and Fri Aug 28 @ Harrington's , Wakefield Ma

The Trio of Al, Peter and Tom at Harrington's

We rocked out!

With some of our favorite standard classic rock tunes like

The Weight,

Southern Cross,

Take It Easy

and Thunder Road.

We even played a couple of Jimmy Buffett tunes on the 22nd just for fun.

We brought back some tunes we hadn't played in a while,
Pride and Joy, Sultans of Swing, Stuck In A Moment

and several more.

We even got a request for a J. Geils song!
The first one that came to mind was Hard Drivin Man.
I hadn't played that song in many, many years, but with a little coaxing from Al
(who remembers every song he's ever played), and Peter, of course, is the same way.

We did a pretty good job with it.
A thank you to Al's stepson Todd, home on leave from the Army,
for helping us with the equipment!!

Aug 1 2009 @ McGuirk's Hampton Beach NH

A full house awaited us as we set up, tourists, local fisherman Crowd at McQuirks dancing up to the unicorn song
and anybody looking for some fun and a good time.

Problem was traffic was absolutely crazy at the beach that night,
and we barely got set up by the 9PM starting time.

But the crowd was with us from the get-go, hooting and hollering
and singing along and dancing to Galway Girl and Seven Drunken Nights.

We played Irish music until the last set when we played some classic rock for the folks.
The house was full until last call and was a great gig for us!
We hope to be back for many more venues there, as the crowd really is receptive to us!!

We're back at Mc Guirk's on Sat Sept 19 in a matinee show,
3:30-7:30 PM. Come on down, and don't worry about the traffic, most of the tourists are gone!!

(no disrespect to you tourist's...lol!!)

Tom O'Brien again pulls off an incredible show at The Rhumbline in Gloucester, MA.

Celtic Cross Symbol

The Boyo's were in rare form this Tues, Mar 17, 2009!

There may have been an economic turndown,
but you wouldn't of known it as 'The Boru Boyo's' proved once again,
that music conquers all turndowns, market slumps, and depressions!!

It was a packed house, as the crowd of Irish and wanabee Irish...
cheered a hearty,  'Slainte' as they say in Gaelic, which means...
"To Your Health!!"

The establishment even ran out of corned beef before 6pm as rumors ran that they
initially made enough to feed a small army... !

You could almost hear them shouting; "Be Gorrah, I'm Irish tonight, ya know...!!"

Tom always puts on a great show here at the Rhumbline and it shows,
as they played from 6pm to midnight. "We try to mix it up, as the night moves forward," says Tom.
Who started out with a traditional irish lullabye,  'Danny Boy' then getting a bit political
with Broad Black Brimmer and finished the night off with the likes of U2's 'Vertigo',
and Van Morrison's 'Domino'.

Of course the band was with Tom every step of the way and didn't miss a beat!
"Tonight, we gave it our all, and it showed. The crowd was really into it,
and they were singing along with us. " touted Al Rice, Lead Guitarist, Vocalist and Bassist

Boru recently added, violinist, and multi-talented artist, Vinnie Mirisola,
who also plays slide steel, mandolin, guitar, and sings, along with another great artist,
Michael Lindberg, who assists on Saxaphone, Bass, Penny Whistle's,
and assorted percussive and wind instruments.

This along with Peter Malaquias on Drums and Percussion, who breaks out his
custom handmade Bohdran from Ireland, rounds out the Boru sound.

Of course we can't forget the man who started this all 18 years ago; Tom O'Brien
heading the Boyo's and attentive crowd in song and cheer.

"It's been such a tradition for so many years, the band's great, the people are great,
the Guinness is great, I wouldn't miss it for the world," says one Irish reveller dressed all in green...!!
